Theewaterskloofdam

One of my favourite places to do Landscape photography in the Western Cape is the Theewaterskloofdam. Walking there is just so peaceful and quiet. You have these beautiful dead trees, streams, dam and the mountains in the background. Recently I also did a model shoot there and it was really great. You can see it here.
Here are a few shots taken there. They are not all from the same day.
Enjoy!

Tip of the day:
Plan your compositions beforehand. Then wait for the light.

Giants Castle

A couple of months ago I had the privilege to go to Giants Castle in the Darkensberg South Africa. I went with two of my great friends Mark Dumbleton and Andrew Averley. Thank you guys it was awesome.
Giants Castle is probably one of the most incredible places I have been to. The great Drakensberg mountains, rivers and the big vultures makes this a must see. With the Bearded Vulture being on the endangered list and the interaction with the Jackal the photographic opportunities are great.
Here are some of my Landscape and Nature shots from that weekend.

Driving in the Overberg

I have decided to make this blog live again. I was very busy with my wedding photography and new website for it that i did not have time to post here. Thank you for your support.

The Overberg is so rich with photographic opportunities and I sometimes take it for granted. Yesterday I decided to go out again and take some photos and this is when I realized that I do take it for granted.
I just got in the car with some friends with no plan and ended up on the farm roads near Protem. We spent about 3 hours only out and got some great images.  Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

The Beautiful Overberg

I want to start off by saying happy New Year to everybody. May you all have a super year filled with joy and true happiness.
The Overberg is a region in the Western-Cape province in South-Africa. I’m so blessed to stay in the middle of it and thus have a lot of images from the area.
The area is big and my guess is that it’s about 300km from the one side to the other. It’s full of photogenic spots and I recon one can spend years just in the Overberg to get amazing shots. From the rough coastline with wrecks, dunes and rocky cliffs, to the farms with hills, valleys and Canola flowers at the end of winter. The awesome mountains of Riviersonderend and Swellendam, with snow in the winter and awesome clouds in the summer, they are truly worth shooting. The Overberg has it all and is one of the best photographic spots in the country.
In 2011 Dreampixphotography are hosting a few workshops in the Overberg and the first will be the last weekend of March Sat 26th. It will be for beginners "Using your camera's potential". More details and exact dates will be given soon. If you are interested in a Dreampix Overberg Landscape Workshop please send me a mail at ktollig@gmail.com. Only 10 places available.
The following images are all from the Overberg. Enjoy!!

Tip of the day: RGB curve contrast
Another way of adding contrast to your image..... Go to channels. Drag and drop your RGB channel in the little circle to make a selection. Now create an adjustment layer and make a s curve.
